Switch Graphics card in Lenovo Laptop

I have a Lenovo Ideapad and it has and Intel Graphics card and also a NVIDIA GeForce Graphics card. I understand the main card is the Intel card. I have a program that recommends me using the NVIDIA card but I don't know how to switch. When I click on the NVIDIA Control Panel it gives me the following. NVIDIA Display settings are not available. You are not currently using a display attached to an NVIDIA GPU. Confused and Don't understand. Just trying to use one card not the other and thought it would be as simple and choosing which one I want to use. Please help!!!!

If you access BIOS on start-up then there should be an option to switch graphics cards, if not then go check out with someone ie: IT specialists.
