Question t470s charging issue

I replaced one of my batteries on my Lenovo T470s. Since then when I connect the charger, the charge indicator flashes intermittently and the display blinks every couple of of seconds making it impossible to operate. So I have to switch off the machine and charge it while it's off. What could be the issue?

Bad battery, bad connection on it maybe. Was the battery a Lenovo one or a copy? A lot of times the cheap batteries cause issues.

It was a brand new generic but I got the manufacturer lead from the Lenovo site. Was advised drivers might be the problem so I updated the power management driver from the basic Windows one and it seems to have fixed the problem.
