My issue is that I was given a really nice Tab 4 that won’t respnd to anything, charger cable, reset procedures, battery removal and reinstall. I am torn between dead battery or faulty port. In your opinion would a battery replacement be the first thing to attempt? Aftermarket batteries are relatively cheap

MERGED QUESTION
Question from brewerjustin35 : "Dead Samsung Tablet"

I was just told that a bad battery would in fact keep my Tab 4 from turning on even with a cable attached. Is there anyway to test a battery before replacing to rule out faulty charging port or is it kinda just replace it and see if it fixes the issue. The tablet was found in an apartment after an eviction so who knows what the history is but it is completely unresponsive but in extremely nice shape. I have suspicions that it was not charged after completely going dead for a long period of time

Thanks but not interested in putting more than 20-30 into it. I ordered a battery that’s refundable but after that I’m gonna sell it for parts. I have to pay diagnostic fee at the electronics shop then if the board is shot I’m out that money. A new battery was 15 bucks and hopefully a shot battery is the issue
