Hi! Well looking around in my attic I found this old record player a while back, I cleaned it up and I tried to play or record it it makes sound, but the sound is very very quiet. To the point of putting a speaker to the side of my ear and it still being quiet . As far as I know I have it hooked up correctly I have it plugged into my Durabrand SA-SP9. I cannot figure out why it is so quiet. I want to listen to a vinyl I just picked up (Kanyes MBDTF) but it's unbearable. Any help? Video of connection https://vid.me/zFZG putting it in AUX IN vs DVD IN makes no audio come out at all.

Solution
You will need a phono preamp between the turntable and speakers.
This applies RIAA EQ to the records (to bring the bass up and treble down so it sounds right) and boosts the signal up to line level which your powered speakers require (2v as opposed to the maybe 5mv the turntable puts out).
Many available at a wide range of price.
