Great.... More ammo for Jack Thompson.

But look at it this way. If video games really did cause this behavior, stuff this sick would be a lot more common.

[citation][nom]anacandor[/nom]Maybe this just proves that video games promote violence...[/citation]
Oh you are a f**ken stupid fool, before video games people were being murdered, video games dont promote violence, , not the use of the word promote!

[citation][nom]soundefx[/nom]This is a damn sad story any way you take it.But I wonder if the people who blame the parent also blame the parent for everything they did wrong?[/citation]
These are people who are followers and not leader in society also you will find NONE of them have kids, this kid was f'd Up

Old new dude...

I feel sorry for the kid because he sounds like he has legitimate mental problems and has made a mistake he can't undo. If he had been treated properly beforehand, this would never have happened. Similarly, it would have happened eventually if he wasn't treated, the PlayStation just happened to be the triggering factor. It could have been a computer, a car, or anything else.

What a disrespectful little ******* sack, murdering his own mother for having his playstation taken away?
Piece of ****, hope that haunts him for the rest of his life, she gave birth to him and he snuffed her life out....Thats gratitude for you.

I agree with you, but half heartedly. Yes, video games do show and engage users in violent scenarios, but the developers should not be censored or held responsible. However, game vendors should do a better job monitoring what age groups are buying certain games and restrict the sale of adult games to minors. When adult games do happen to make it home, parents need to crack down on their kids so they are not exposed to adult content. That goes for every parent! The hardest part about enforcing rules on kids is that their friends' parents don't enforce any rules in their household.

By not exposing children to adult games, we keep strong the moral barriers of what is right and wrong, legal and illegal.

It's about time parent's step up, take some responsibility for their kids before it's too late and tragedies like what happened to this mother repeat themselves.

Only in America (and maybe South Korea). You are the products of a society that only want you to consume, so stop trying to think and keep eating. The rest of the world find you all very funny.

[citation][nom]scook9[/nom]I am certain that better parenting could have avoided this....[/citation]

Really? Better parenting? She did the right thing and took away the game console and the kid went absolutely ballistic. He has to be really sick in the head to kill his mother like that and then try to cremate her. This has nothing to do with poor parenting but I'm sure everyone is glad you tried to drag the deceased mother's dignity through the mud in your attempt to defend video game consoles. Sick bastard.

Nope. only proves that people need to learn not to become addicted to anything they do in life. He was addicted to his playstation and wanted it back..and heres the result.

A 16 year old loses temper and kills...
A.) A home intruder
B.) A bully
C.) An unfaithful love interest
D.) His own mother

This "kid" simply does not belong in our society. It's the easiest test in the world, and he just failed. It's so bad society doesn't even have an insult prepared (i.e. "Shut up, you stupid motherkiller!") Can you imagine if this guy ever got out of prison, then got a job at your work? You would become paranoid and probably end up quitting just to escape the stress. Not to mention that award moment at work when another employee stands up and says "It's Hammer Time!" Just saying, this "kid" makes a perfect case for quickly executed capital punishment.

What the heck is this, a Fox news story? WTH did the PS have to do with anything? The possible final straw?! Just insane! He didnt kill her over that, clearly he has other issues! The least of which was actually playing console games.

OMG, what happens if your mums to fat to fit in the oven. Would you have to haul her fat ass down to MC Donalds and dump her in the fryer?

Yes, it was her taking away the playstation that caused him to attack her. Couldn't possibly be the 90 minute argument that preceded it.

Sensationalist news reporting at its best.

The point is not whether video games teach kill art or not, but rather the dependency level we feel while being deprived of gaming. The bad parenting is responsible for not moderating this dependency. Partly due these days that bad parent spend little time at home with their kids. Videogames is an easy and cheap trick to fill the gap (gives illusion to kids and parents that everyone is happy).

Both videogames and bad parenting caused this murder.

The same applies to drugs, alcohol, sex, tv, sports, food....everything that gives us pleasure and is not under control.........except maybe talking to people: can't kill people if you want to talk to them, unless you are a psycho!
