Sony has prepared their PS3 for the future it has plays games, blu ray, built-in wlan, no fees for playing online, dualshock controllers and now motion controllers the move and pseye, and then they are going to be the first one with 3d out of all the consoles. Natal is joke come on a eyetoy but only a little better, but with playstation you have both the camera and motion control so it's in between. Yeah xbox has more sales but how many of those xboxes were RROD or banned. xbox is a lower end pc, in which the pc doesn't charge for internet. You can never release an mmo on xbox because you will have to pay two fees. PS products have a ten year cycle, the ps2 is still being supported, when the 360 came microsoft drop support on the old xbox. At first PS3 was expensive but compared to the xbox know you are paying more on the xbox with these "special items" hdd, wlan card, battery pack, live (about $200 since the release of live I would say)

Efeat is right I got Just Cause 2 and it's not a PC game. Some might find it fun but it wasn't for me. The game only let me map 3 of the 5 buttons I have on my Razer mouse and just feels wrong.

From the 3 consoles the only one that deserve my attention is the PS3, and I have my PS3 for a long time now.

The Wii has nothing to compete with either PS3 or 360.

The 360 does not come even close (on hardware) to the undisputed king the PS3.

With that said, the new controller for the PS3 I expect that abomination to FAIL big time, it is retarded (very similary as retarded as the Wii controller)

The only reason the XBox360 has sold twice as many consoles as the PS3 is because all XBox users are on their second or third system. Divide their numbers by 2 and the race is much closer.

this article is missing some obvious things. Wii is crushing everyone else.. it may be at 50% of last year, but that's still enough to be in first this year. Second, what about world wide numbers? The 360 is only selling more in the US, while it is getting outsold in every other region (and the 360 is getting crushed in some regions like Japan and Asia). Very short sided and myopic article.

I completely agree with that theory. Plus all the modded consoles that got there online deactivated probably made all the fools run out and buy another one. LOL. I bet real "new" customers for the 360 are probably less then 1/2 of the ps3.

Whats the big deal about consoles anyways, you can run all the xbox 360 controllers on the pc. I have 2 360 controllers, the headset, and the xbox 360 wireless racing wheel all working on my pc with a single reciever. I don't get the reasoning behind it.

Your article seems somewhat misguided. For one, there seems to be a lot of apprehension regarding Microsoft's Natal project from the development community... or did you not pay attention to the comments buzzing about during GDC??? And as for the core business, games... both Sony and Nintendo seem to be doing a better job in that department for the last two years running. This console gen will likely come down to Ninty and Sony. Microsoft has lost too much momentum and will need some REAL killer apps on Natal to get it back. Motion control will not be a system seller for either Microsoft or Sony, but the games that use them could be...

[citation][nom]ReaM[/nom]and people, stop giving me minuses when I am telling facts.[/citation]
You are a complete douche bag. That is why you are getting negative feedback.

Of course this will sound redundant, but to not even mention the crippling hardware failures that the XBox 360 has experienced over the years is inexcusable. I love my 360... when the machine actually works properly. I've owned consoles going all the way back to the Atari days, and I've never feared the simple act of turning a console on like I constantly do with the 360. In fact, I still periodically boot up my NES, Super Nintendo, PSX, and PS2, all machines that I've logged hundreds of hours of gameplay on, and I've never experienced even the slightest issues with them. The 360, however, has given me game freezes, a nasty E73 error that was all but unfixable, and a couple other RRoD's that required some rather deep research to resolve properly. Now, this machine is absolutely fantastic when it performs as advertised, but far too often it just doesn't perform at all. And despite Microsoft's extended 3-year warranty for E74 errors, there are numerous other crippling failures that simply aren't covered outside of standard coverage, and will cost you $99 to have "repaired". These are the headaches that will doom this console if not fully eradicated in the coming years.

Wow you make a bold statement like "the 360 will win the console wars" and you support this statement by quoting sales figures from NA and ignore global figures that show that Sony sells more consoles on average each month...

Then you support it by taking a optimistic view of Natal and a pessimistic view of Move? These are not even out yet and you are jumping to conclusions on who will 'win the console war'?

I hope this is some sort of april fools joke. It not, its just sad.

Worst part is that I'll probably be thumbed down for this...

The length of the article, and the sheer amount of optimism, leads me to think that this is an elaborate April Fool's article; hence, I'll spare it a particularly lengthy response.

Moreover, the gushing over project Natal is pretty premature. I'm betting that it largely gets relegated to casual games that won't make much of a splash. After all, who're the 360's main gamers? Are they the likes who go for things like Wii Sports? No, they'd rather play Halo 3 ODST, Gears of War 2, and Modern Warfare 2. What will Natal do for them? The Wii didn't sell on the gimmick its controller did... It sold more on price. And Natal won't help there as it basically asks owners to shell out another $100US for what is essentially a gimmick they won't use all that much.

As for sales numbers, in order to snag the #1 spot in overall sales, Microsoft (or Sony) is gonna have to somehow counter what that graph showed all too well: Nintendo held the lead for a LONG time. It'd take several years of holding a HUGE lead in the month-to-month market to simply catch up; currently, the gap amounts to around 30 million consoles sold, or nearly all that Microsoft has sold since 2005. So in other words, if Microsoft kept the same average rate over the future, Nintendo could decide to up and stop producing the Wii TODAY, and Microsoft likely wouldn't catch up before the 8th generation of consoles came out in 2012-2013 or so.

Of course, Nintendo isn't going to say "turn off our money printer!" Rather, I'm guessing that, as previous parts of the graph have shown, occasionally Nintendo meets a dip in response to a spike from someone else; then this goes back to "normal." Further, I should run the numbers through an analysis program, but even a quick glance shows that while the Wii seems, over the long term, to average to a slowly downward-trend, so is the Xbox 360, which is trending downward at a speed that seems FASTER. It's the PS3 that seems to trend upwards.

Yeah, some of the arguments against the Wii seem rather fanboyish.
The fact the microsoft beat out Nintendo in February is only a reality because of console shortages. EVERYONE knows this.

You mention that other than the Wii motion+ and the balance board Nintendo doesn't have any new ideas. What about the vitality sensor? I know, I know, it seems like a bad idea, but so did the balance board at first.

Claiming that Nintendo is running out of steam when the software lineup this year is arguably the best year since the release of the console is kind of hard to digest.

Instead of just looking at Nintendo for their Wii console, let us realize the fact that Nintendo, for a while now, has been trying to tie in their business strategy of their handheld with the console so that consumers won't be overloaded with Nintendo products as one could hurt the other. Nintendo 3DS will be released early next year which would indirectly drive sales for the Wii even more.

I don't think Nintendo is running out of steam anytime soon.

This is a fairly biased article when talking about motion control, sony's tech has been in developement since the eye toy and has a great chance to work well due to the familiarity of the concept and the almost lagless input. Natal has some issues and may be good but has flaws( try holding your arms up like you are holding a steering wheel see how long that lasts with nothing in your hand). There has been no mention of the quality of product of games that sony has came out with recently and has really began to seperate its self in terms of quality and scale. Blu- ray is becoming a huge factor in terms of audio and visual fidelity( see FFXIII). Sony is nowhere near perfect and drives me nuts but I recently got bad company 2 on 360 and ps3 and you know what online shooters are 360's bread and butter and it has been a better experience on the ps3 by far... just another perspective MS has to really drop a big one at e3 to stay fresh or it could be ruff waters ahead.

I read this article and don't wish to attack it. I think it touches upon something but does not clearly state it, or state it clearly. Basically, the Wii grabbed up the casual gamer market and Sony and Microsoft initially targeted the hardcore gamers and the HD market. Now if the Wii is in trouble, then it's that market that Sony and Xbox most likely are coveting. Now the article says that Sony's Move basically improves the WiiRemote. I don't own a Wii, but one has to put themselves in a Wii owner's shoes and think. Hmm, the Wii is going nowhere or is nothing but a rehash time and time again. I want to upgrade or move on. So by adding the Move to a HD console, with a company that has a high number of quality developers in its stable, a better pricing point than the Xbox, and bluray disc that should really open up the casual game experience, with free online play seems to me to be more enticing than Natal. Natal seems to be an improvement on Sony's PS2 eye toy. I enjoyed that, but you could see the limitations of controller-less movement being properly relayed to the console. Another point that needs to be made, is that the Wii sold plenty because it was inexpensive and didn't need an HD or large flatscreen TV. So consider what type of TV one will need with Natal, if you are a Wii owner looking to upgrade. Although it's a great enhancement to the gaming experience, the PS3 doesn't require HD TV for MOVE, but it would seem that Natal will require a large enough TV to not make the Natal experience difficult. I don't know much about Natal, but in reading how it is controller-less, common sense does come into play as to what is actually necessary for it to work. Hardcore games are not screaming for MOVE or Natal, so put yourself in the shoes of a Wii owner looking to upgrade.
