I gotta say I don't know how to feel about thieves like this. I mean stealing is stealing, but I have been in a very similar situation. I accidentally left my wallet, droid, and keys on the seat of my doorless Jeep one evening. I returned to find my stereo and CDs gone, but everything else in the glovebox. The thief had even taken the time to not damage my dash in the removal of the stereo.

I wasn't angry at all, but happy to see the valuables safe. It's a weird feeling.

I'm guessing this thief is either the reluctant, steal-only-enough-to-survive type or is a kleptomaniac. It's also possible that he/she has some sort of compulsive behavior around letting anything go to waste.

[citation][nom]TheRockMonsi[/nom]If he was poor, why did he not just go the whole nine yards and keep the credit cards then?[/citation]

If you've ever been poor you'd know that the modern laptop's street value would probably feed you for a couple weeks, buy a few rolls of TP, provide enough coins for a couple loads of laundry, nab you a nice little sack, a six pack, and enough pre-paid electricity for a week's worth of heating.

Knowing this, using somebody's stolen credit cards and thus making it easier to be tracked is pointless if you're actually stealing to make ends meet. I'm not saying that makes petty theft okay, but if I were doing that for a living I'd certainly leave credit cards alone as to avoid being caught.
