I have this Thinkpad x1 laptop that is exhibiting an issue I haven't came across before. When running off the battery no issues but about 5 seconds after you plug in the power adapter, the screen starts to flicker then video cuts out. The back light is still lit and the computer continues to one. I know it is working because when you hit a key you can hear the windows alert. before the laptop was giving to me it was dropped pretty hard but like I said I can charge it fully and use it. I have never came across a power adapter cause=ing an issue like this. I have wondered if its the main board or maybe a reflow may be in order. Any help would be much appreciated

If the adapter provides the correct voltage and current to the laptop, then the problem is the components that regulate the voltage of the laptop.

Solution
Sorry it's late, 3:05 AM here. I'll try in the evening to find a diagram for your laptop, I just found the service manual. I'll let you know later what I found.

After taking it apart a and reseating every thing I am going to try a reflow. IT started to do the same thing with the video without the charger this time. IF that doesn't work I guess Im getting a new board. Thanks for your help.
