Anyone who knows me is well aware that I've been working on opening up a
local game shop in the nearby college town. I am currently closer than
ever to getting it accomplished. I found a nice place, good size, plenty
of electrical outlets, right off Main St, at a VERY affordable lease.

My problem is right now my inventory is seriously lacking, being that
it's only the beginning of the flea season I haven't had many trade-ins
or straight out purchases of merchandise yet. So I'm sitting on only a
few hundred games and a dozen or so consoles. So I turn to the community
for help.

Whatever you guys can wholesale to me, or just flat out donate to the
cause would be a huge help in getting my shop opened within the next
month or so.

What can I offer (aside from a bit of cash)? Exposure. It's no secret
that I run East Coast Gaming Expo. We've just nailed down the '05 and
'06 dates and locations (keep posted to ecgx.com for info in the coming
days). Any project you're working on, website you webmaster, etc... can
and will get exposure at the ECGX and on both the domains I have
registered to my store (www.toomanygames.com and www.the-
battlegrounds.com)

I plan on being a multi-purpose gaming store. Video games, coin-ops,
Magic cards, YuGiOh cards, miniature games, AD&D, etc... so anything is
appriciated, old or new.

Drop me a line at chuck@toomanygames.com if you think you can help the
cause! Thanks!

I'd love to help, but I haven't really got anything at the moment that
I want to get rid of, sadly. I liquidated most of my excess gaming
goods this last winter when I moved from a 2 to a 1 bedroom apartment.
I do have a CIB copy of Raiden Project I'd let go cheap to give you
something to put under glass for those to drool over.

The domain name is ironic, considering :)

Good luck though.

It wasn't so ironic when I originally registered it before I lost my job,
I did have too many games. 8*) Couldn't get everything into the game
room and the car, and closets, and etc... now everything for sale is,
basically, in the back of the Aztek. 8*)

I'd love to see some pics of the place when you're done setting up. I've had
a fantasy of buying to a local australia-wide franchise
(www.gametraders.com.au) but most of them seem to mainly stock new games, so
it looks like there's not enough money to be made from buying and reselling
classic games.

One thing to avoid in the store is becoming a hang-out for teens to come
in and just play games. The most successful privately owned store here
in St. Louis is the Game Trader. Brian virtually does not let people
play games. Only the most regular paying customers, and then only if
they are checking for something specific.

I've seen over three dozen privates come and go because they had many
machines set for open play and were mobbed by kids just hanging out,
playing games. Death knell.

Even the local Funkillands disabled the demo systems for the most part.
They now have the demo kiosks with the demo disks in them, and
frequently they unplug the controllers and leave the in attract mode.

See, I believe the opposite. The more open and friendly you are with the
community, the more they'll spend their money in your shop. Granted,
it's not going to be "Put this game in so I can play it all day." There
will be certain restrictions, but I strongly believe in open play and
friendly competition.

Forgive me. I was only sharing what I have observed from the local
operations that have succeeded or failed.
