Any engineer worth his salt can take engineering/math notes on a computer. Been a couple years since I was stuck in academia but we used laptops in my day. Try going to a major engineering conference with a pencil.. you better be a fossil with a few hundred profitable patents under your belt or you are getting laughed at.
