Hi all. I have a chance to pick up a two year-old 43HX70 pretty cheap,
and I wonder if anyone can offer any advice - up or down - on this
unit. There aren't a lot of reviews out there, and Toshiba has had a
bewildering array of models in the 43" line over the last few years.

Thanks in advance,

Dan

I had one of these TV's up until 1 1/2 yrs ago...sold it to my bro-in-law
who's pretty happy with it...I wanted a bigger screen at 16:9 than this unit
offered, but it was a good TV.

I bought the 50" model (Toshiba 50HX70) a few years ago and am still using
it (although I'm now looking to sell and replace it with either a Plasma or
LCD of 55-60") and the TV is quite a performer. In my case the only problem
I had was a convergence IC that blew, but it was covered by my extended
warranty so that worked out well.

The picture is clear (when convergence is properly adjusted at the Service
Menu level) and provides great colors for a RPTV. I don't really use the
onboard speakers as I run everything through my home entertainment system.

The only negative I've found is that there is a screen burn-in of the news
tickers from the cable news channels that my wife is addicted to. The
reality is though that unless you are watching a pure white scene (e.g.,
snow or other type) you really don't notice it so the effect on overall
picture quality is negligible.

Hope this helps.
