Toshiba c55 won't let me do a recovery

I've turned it off then back on while holding the zero button. When it asks if I want to do a recovery I enter yes and enter. Then get an error message that says a device is missing, need to insert a disk or usb. I have neither. When I go system settings the go to advanced settings the safe mode is black and will not let me change it. All this happened overnight!! Any ideas, laptop isn't even a year old....

Go into your advanced/troubleshooting settings and open a command prompt

Type in
Bootrec /fixmbr
Bootrec /fixboot
Bootrec /rebuildbcd
