Toshiba c855 won't boot

Lights come on and it sounds like it's trying to start but never does.

That happened to mine too. I pulled the battery out, unplugged it and pulled the hard drive out. It worked fine after that. I kept it plugged in when I turned it on too.

Can you tell me how to access the hard drive?

Unscrew the back.
It should be right by the RAM. You will probably have to take out a couple more screws. You need a small screw driver to do this.
Slide it straight back until it comes all the way out. Then slide it back in.

Thanks. Did as you recommended, but it still won't boot. Reseated the ram while I was there. Any other ideas?

Right now the battery charging light is solid white meaning fully charged
and the power light is white. The wifi light is not on at all. It keeps making sounds occasionslly like it is trying to start up but it never does. The fan runs and the cd drive opens up.

Screen is completely black.

When my laptop was trying to turn on the screen was black but it would turn it a very dark shade of blue. Does it do that?

No. Screen does not change at all. Completely black.

What about if you hook it up to an external screen? It could be that your screen is broken
