Help on getting sound after hooking up VCR to Toshiba T.V.

How do you have the vcr connected to the TV?

You should have three cables with RCA connectors at both ends. The yellow one is for video. The other two are for audio. Make sure that the audio out of the VCR is connected to the correct audio in on the TV that matches the video input you used.
