Toshiba laptop CD player

when I put my dvd in my Toshiba laptop it didn't do anything why did the movie not start?

see if the drive spins the disk at all. check in device manager to see if the drive is seen ok & no exclamation mark in front of it. if the disk does not spin then the drive most likely died. try a burnt disk to see if it reads it. try a cd if the movie is on a dvd.
