Toshiba Laptop popping sound issue

So I have been looking EVERYWHERE for a proper answer to my problem however no success yet so I hope you all can help me solve my problem, Here we go:

I updated all my computer drivers last week and after all the updates and restarting my sound did not work. I tried to roll back the sound driver (Realtek HD Audio) however no luck!

I have Tried to be following things since then;

• Updated Realtek HD audio driver
• I rolled back Realtek HD audio driver
• I un-installed Realtek HD Audio driver
• I re-installed the Realtek HD audio driver
• Re-updated (again) the Realtek HD audio driver via realtek's website e for window’s 10 64-bit operating system.
• I tried to disable sound effects to see if this would help (through the playback devices -> speaker properties
• I tried to change the sample rate and bit depth in speaker properties but no luck.
• Called windows support and inquired about solutions and no answer..
• Downloaded drivers from Toshiba's website installed and restarted computer etc. no luck.

The laptop keeps on making popping sounds as it wounds to turn on but doesn't know how! PLEASE HELP!

It is a Toshiba Satellite t50-B (2015)

Did you change windows version by any chance?

The computer comes with windows 8 however I updated to Windows 10 right after it was released 2 years ago and never had any issues with the sound.

try compatibility mode install of the driver.
before installing set it to windows 8.
or before running the .exe set up...

i guess there is a few ways to do it.. just google it.

by the way.... run anti virus aswell.... some viruses mess with audio drivers. in my experience.
be prepared to do a new windows 10 install. just get your license with Belarc first. save it to flash drive.

That won't be it then.
You say it starts making the sound as it turns on. Does it continue making it once you're logged in?

I probably googled it a 100 times however it did not seem to do anything, I will try your suggestion though and will let you know how it went tomorrow! Thanks

I...but it's strange if it did work for a long time in win10. Could it be a windows update or something that eventually just overwrote the original driver and messed things up?

well.. a computer i just worked on thru out 7k errors after 7-19-2017.... i assume it was the latest win10 huge update...

Ok so I had another issue earlier, there was the "blue screen of death" telling me that there was a bad pool header. After doing a bunch of research I learned that one of the drivers needed to be updated, I ended up on DriverEasy website, installed their software and saw that there were like 40 drivers due for updating so I went ahead and purchased their software to update all drivers.. it all worked after that until one morning it stopped working, I tried to roll back the audio driver after I googled the issue however this did not solve the problem, then there was another audio driver update available (driver easy told me) so I installed that which was released only few days ago (according to driver easy software). This did not help either.. so i have been searching high and low for the solution however nothing found..

Also, I checked to see if I perhaps should restore however the last restoring point was no good anyways.. (driver easy creates one automatically when updating drivers) which was before I tried the 2nd driver update for realtek audio through their software so the restore point is no good either...

I am fairly good with computers and this is the first real problem I haven't been able to solve since getting the laptop.

Also ran malware anti bites (fully licensed version) and nothing showed up.

you can get all the drivers free at the laptops manufacture website.

that being said there are some driver tools.

one that seems ok to me to use is Intels tool.

of coarse this only covers Intel.

I've used Iobits driver booster before..... but not all have a good experience. so use it at own risk..
Slimedriver I've used but it didn't seem to have a lot of support.

this being said windows also has some drivers it pushes.
The graphics card companies also do all thier own drivers.


If you use a driver tool you only need to use it once. I always uninstall them with Revo uninstaller.

most here will say to just goto your motherboard site


if you want to try.... you could run Wisecare 365.... run everything.
or
advancedsystemcare from Iobit.... but i don't leave Iobit stuff on my computer.... they seem sketchy with how much they leave on your computer after you uninstall it... must use Revouninstaller with them.


If you really want to test to see if this is a software issue. get a second drive and fresh install windows and see if you get the same issues.

reset your BIOS first.

If you reinstall on your drive without using a second one. use "Belarc" to save your program licenses to a flashdrive. just scan and save the explorer page it puts the info on.

if you determine its hardware issues after this.... then the flow chart is.

PSU
memory
hard drive
graphics card
motherboard.


most likely its driver issues.... it appears to me that windows 10 does not play nice with older rigs.

SO, I called Toshiba yesterday to see if they could give me any answers and after them trying to figure it out they gave up on it as well and then this morning the strangest thing happened:

IT WORKED ALL OF A SUDDEN!!

no explanation as to why so I am going to see if i can find that out however it is all back to normal.. NOT going to update any drivers any time soon lol
