Toshiba laptop - screen flickers with white horizontal lines

Hi, I have a Toshiba Satellite A300, 5 years old. Today the screen began flickering. The upper 5-10 cm are ok, but the rest shows flickering white horizontal lines.
It happens from the boot. No problem with an external monitor.
Thanks to an irisvista guide, I managed to dismount the screen, but how may I know if the problem is the inverter, the LCD cable or anything else?

Thanks for your answer; before buying spares, is there a way to check if the problem is the cable or the screen?

If you are lucky you can determine if it's the cable or the screen by moving the cable or touching the screen where you have a PC board. If you still have the problem, then change the cable first, it's the least expensive.
