I still feel it is a novelty at best. No 3d I have experienced has actually felt any more realistic. You adjust and just don't notice it any more.

Excepting of course things designed to give the 3d experience like shows at theme parks.

Avatar, I didn't even notice the 3d effect after a while and the only reason I wore the glasses is because I had to to not see things in double.
