Hi members, I have a Toshiba p870 that I need to replace the mainboard in. The original board is a V000288260 but I have found it nearly impossible to source and the cost is thru the roof. However there are plenty of V000288250 boards around at a reasonable cost and from what I have been able to research they are near identical to the 260. Would anyone be able to confirm if I can use the 250 instead, any differences between the boards and what pitfalls I would possibly face by swapping out the original for another version that appears on paper to be very similar if not identical ?

Thanks in advance for any helpful responses :)

The V000288260 you speak of is hard to find a good high res image of however I did find this listing for a V000288260:

and compared it with this listing for a V000288250

They look absolutely identical. At this point, I'd like to ask you to parse the SKU for your laptop. Chances are that the board's GPU will have reduced VRAM or that the breakaway USB connectivity is reduced. Upon a little more digging, the 250, seems to be armed with an HM77 chipset while the 260 is armed with a HM76 chipset.

Thanks for your reply.
The model of my laptop is PSPLFA-061001.

Something that I picked up on tonight after work is the 250 board has GL10FG 6050A2492401-MB-A03 printed on it while the 260 has GL10FG 6050A2492401-MB-A02. Not knowing what the A02 and A03 represent I am suddenly wondering if this is such a good idea after all.

The 250 board I can get for about $100 but the 260 is around the $400 mark hence my query.
I don't mind the idea of using an alternate board if it's a good match though if it is going to create problems then I would have to opt out ?
