Hi,

My laptop shuts down randomly. It shuts down and stays that way. Only the LED indicating power is connected, is on. When I start again it starts normally. No error messages, BSODs, or anything.

The CPU temp used to be around 99°C. I thought that was the problem so I changed a setting on the BIOS to reduce the CPU speed/power and now the temp stays around 60–70°C.

I have seen that if I start Photoshop or watch a movie or start browsing or heavy downloading, it shuts down more often. But some tasks like playing old games, etc., last quite a while. But otherwise, it shuts down in about 5–30 mins.

This used to happen a few months ago too, but that was the power adapter. (I don't use the battery.) But now I've tested with a different adaptors with the same results.

I don't think the problem is with the power or heating. I need advice.

And it also has an nVidia card.

What does it actually mean? Does that mean I have to look for a new laptop? If so what can I do with, or harvest from this old one?

It's been 2.5 years for this one, but I've been using it 24/7 without rest.
