Toshiba Satellite powers on but doesn't respond

Hey all, hoping someone may have some advice:

I have a Toshiba Satellite P745-S4102. Every time I turn the power on, the screen turns on and the white underscore cursor blinks in the upper-left hand corner, but only for a second. After that, the screen is blank
(but still on).

I've tried removing the battery/holding down the power button/reinserting the battery; no luck. Any suggestions? Mobo? CPU?

Could be the motherboard, have you tried pulling the CMOS battery, to clear any possible corrupt settings, of course this means taking it apart.

I had a Toshiba Satellite once, the motherboard randomly died on me for no good reason. Haven't bought another one.
