Toshiba Satellite Won't Power Up

My Toshiba Satellite L635 won't give me any indications of functionality. I left the computer asleep overnight (I do this often without ay problems), but when I attempted to wake it up none of the indicators lit. The system was still asleep with the power indicator blinking at 09:00, though by 10:00 it wouldn't power up. When the battery is critical (7%) and my system sleeps it will generally hold a charge for at least 24-48 hours. I have attempted a 'bare-bones' start-up (with all unnecessary components disconnected [including the internal components such as the monitor and keyboard]).
With the 'bare-bones' setup I attempted first to start it with the battery attached and using the power button, then with the charger and power button, neither worked, I then ran the same test again, but I attempted o short the power button connectors with a pair of stainless-steel scissors; this didn't work either, so I ruled out the power button being an issue.
I don't have proper troubleshooting equipment (another battery and charger) so that may be an issue.

There is also a table printed on the board with red dots on certain items. I have recreated the table with Excel. A red highlight means that there is a red dot on that item. The one with the question mark (?) was covered to the extent that I can't be sure of what the number was.

I would appreciate any help you can provide.

I wanted to do the battery thing on my satellite C75 but I didn't had the right screw driver so I just pushed the on/off button for 30 seconds and that worked as well :-D

So you have taken the battery out, disconnected it from the power adapter, held down the power button for 30 seconds and then placed the battery back in and the power adapter and tried powering it on?

I will try that as soon as I can, but what exactly is that supposed to do?

Wanted to chime in here in case someone had my issue. I had no power or lights. I tried the 30 second power button trick to no avail. I ended up opening the case and doing some troubleshooting. I used a multi-meter and found I would only get 19 volts on the DC power jack harness if I grounded it against the jack casing. I also didn't get any continuity if I checked the black wires and the jack casing. I grabbed my handy dandy soldering iron and resoldered the ground wire to the jack casing/ground tab and WALLAH(!) I have power back to my Toshiba L75 (L75-B7270).

I hope this helps someone.

It did work for me as well.
Steps:
1. Disconnect laptop from power cord
2. Take out battery
3. Hold power button for 30 seconds
4. Put battery back
5. Connect to power cord
6. You can see that the orange light is on
7. Press power button to boot up laptop

I have a satellite pro C850 was using it earlier and it stopped responding completely, turned it off with power button and back on, no problem. It's just done it again, powered off and now when I power back up, I just get a black/grey screen. Tried the battery and charger lead out, hold power button for 1-2 mins and power back up with battery and charger but still no joy..........

Looks like Tosh has design problems with their satellite laptop series. They should be legally held liable for damages from selling defective devices to consumers. Hope they get mailed soon.

Just wanted to throw in my two cents on this issue, as I recently dealt with it. I had already tried the power button thing several times to no avail. I opened up the case & checked the power jack connector. It was loose so I reinforced it. Still problems. I checked the voltage of the power adapter 19.3v. checked the pc jack, 19.3v coming in. Seemed enough as the info says 19v. But I had similar Toshiba laptop here in the shop, so I connected the AC adapter to that laptop. Same symptoms appeared! I tried a multi voltage universal adapter to my laptop. I works! Checked the voltage 19.4v!! So it was that 0.1v drop freaked out the laptop.
