My Laptop Toshiba Satellite with XP is not starting. When I power it on, just black screen comes. Earlier once it had showed startup option by clicking F12, I tried to do it by inserting Revovery CD#1. It started but after a minute or 2 it showed blue screen with error :

a problem has been detected and windows has been shutdown to prevent damage

STOP 0000x7f

Pls help me to boot my laptop. Its ok if I lose all data.

Thanks

Hi,

Please do try these steps.

- Boot the laptop into BIOS first and press F9 to restore it to factory defaults then insert the Recovery disc and reboot the PC.
- During the boot up and if it ask you to "press any key to boot to DVD/CD" just press any key on you keyboard and it should start the recovery process. Just follow the on screen instruction until you reach the part where it's formatting already.

If this doesn't work run a test in BIOS first for your HDD. Most likely the blue screen error message has something to do with either the HDD or the recovery disc that your using to take off the fact that it could be your HDD run the SMART TEST in BIOS.
Once done and it pass you need to get a new set of recovery disc since it might be damaged already.
