Transferring downloaded software from old PC to new PC

Many of the programs I now have were purchased or updated by downloading them. There are no original CDs to install on my new PC. Is there a way to transfer those programs from my old PC operating with XP to my new Dell w/windows 7?

I do not think so, unless you still have the ability to download them again. There is protection in PCs so this stuff cannot be done easily, and so you can't give your buddy all your paid programs for free. Also, WIndows 7 and Windows XP have a lot of differences in terms of file systems, registry, and framework.
