Question Trouble using TV remote to power on YAS-209 soundbar

I have a Yamaha YAS-209 sound bar. I can use my Spectrum TV remote to adjust the volume. The TV remote will also power off the sound bar. I am using the HDMI-ARC to my Samsung TV.
I can only turn on the sound bar by its own remote. HELP!

Thanks helpstar. I have updated ny soundbar to the latest firmware. The TV is at the current version. After update of firmware I unplugged the power from the soundbar and reset it to the TV. I also reset the soundbar code for my TV remote. Now the TV remote will still control volume but not the power off or power on. Before the update the soundbar powered off when I turned the cable box and TV off.
Any other thoughts? I can't find anything in the Yamaha manual. Thinking of getting a new remote from the cable company.

Is your remote a universal programmable one? Find a better code, which works with the sound bar as well.

I tried all suggestions with no success. My remote was from Spectrum and was many rears old. It was programmable. Today I went to Spectrum and traded the old remote for a newer model.
