Hello everyone,

I've been trying to fix this issue thats been occurring with my sister's laptop (no luck). The laptop itself is fairly new; it came with windows 10 (not upgraded). The wireless adapter model is Atheros QCA61x4.

For some reason, the laptop will just not connect to the wireless network in her apartment. Every other device I've tried has no issues connecting. The laptop has not had any issues connecting to other wireless networks AFAIK. When I try to connect, it attempts to do so until it says: cannot connect to this network.

Things I have tried (restarts have been accompanied by every step):

- Driver rollback

- Driver uninstallation (and letting it reinstall by restarting)

- I couldn't find drivers for this anywhere online except on lenovo so I installed THIS (updated driver): http://support.lenovo.com/ca/en/downloads/DS105386?LinkTrack=Solr

- Restarting modem and router

- unchecking IPV6

- Changing security of the network to WEP and unsecured

- Trying every band setting on the wireless network

I'm not very good with computers and I have run out of ideas. If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate it.

Thanks.

Have you tried not using the drivers for it, but simply use standard drivers? Download the drivers, unzip the package and istall the using your device manager.

You might also try to see if it will work when the laptop is within a meter of the modem/router. I have heard from a few people that the antenna on that particular wireless adapter is not so great.

It may also be a problem with that particular adapter and the brand of modem/router it is trying to connect to. Some just don't like each other.
