Trying to connect my dp311 direct tv box to my new 49” 4K uhd lg

My suggestion would be to get a new box with HDMI. The old one is not HD and the picture will not be good.
Your new TV likely has a shared component - composite video input. Check the owners manual on how to configure it for composite and how to connect the DTV box.
