Trying to connect older sony receiver (2002 5.1 surround sound) and same vintage dvd player with new 48" TLC (48s405) Totally

Solution
Assuming that the home theater (HT-DDW 840) works properly, you will want to connect the DVD changer to it for audio, and video output to the TV. You'll need one stereo + video RCA cable (red, white and yellow) for DVD-to-HT connection, and one video RCA cable (yellow) for HT-to-TV connection.

For the records: HT-DDW-840 manual, DVP-NC650V manual

If you want to hear TV audio thru HT - an optical cable from connector H on the TV to Optical In on the HT.
