I have an Asus laptop. I don't know much about them. I can get on my internet fine, use all my functions fine. The problem is when I want or need to restart the laptop. I hit restart and after a few seconds I get a black and white line screen and have have to power it off. Then it will start fine. I think it is a virus since I get a full page ad on memorycontrol.biz. It says call this number to fix the computer and can only get rid of ad by shutting down. Is there any fix for this. Have windows defender and no virus or maleware found. What to do What to do. Asus 64 bit laptop, core i5

I would recommend that you install Malware Bytes Anti Malwayre as it's free. Just make sure to run a full scan and it should clean anything for you. Also install CCleaner. Run the cleaner and registry cleaner and it cleans all corrupted registry keys and stuff like that. (Worth a try)

Just reply if that doesn't work. :)

I guess the saying "great minds think alike" rings true here :)

I pick both PizzaTheHutt and Sammyjo20 as the best solution since they both said the same thing. I was actually able to restart after the scan. BTW found 7 errors. Thank You so much...it was driving me crazy.....

Brilliant! Glad to help. :) Did CCleaner pick up anything?
