As the title says im trying to pick a Laptop for a Christmas gift.

The laptop needs to be able to run top end games and hopfully future releases at at least good settings.

Budge is 800-1000 bucks Closer to 800 the better, but if I must ill go to 1000.

Here are some Iv found so far:

the i7 4700HQ Lenovo Y50 is at 949on newegg, but your prob right there both good processors and the i5 will have no problems, so prob be smarter to take the 80 bucks off and help my budget

Thanks for the input dasulman., got the lenovo y50 saved, bearing no better deals on friday I will lock this laptop up. For only 860 bucks, this seems like a legit deal.

Ill prob end up purchasing this weekend and not look back but till then im going to constintly look up to see if i can find a better deal.

The Laptop to beat is still the Y50. I found this one

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834152646&&nm_mc=BAC-Criteo&cm_mmc=BAC-Criteo-_-NewsFeed-_-NA-_-NA

for only 790, 80 bucks cheaper then the y50

The GT 840M 2GB video card is not coming up on video card benchmark so im not sure were it stands compared to the GTX 860m in the Y50 laptop.
But the i7 is rated decent bit higher then the i5 in the Y50.

This laptop beat out the Y50?
also after looking at the Y50 i5 vers it does not seem like it comes with HDMI, which is no big deal but little disspointment for 850 laptop not to have an HDMI port

i7 here but video card is gtx 85m

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=9559208&CatId=3998
This has i7 plus gtx 860m, but never bought anything from cyberpowerpc beore.

Worth upping the price to 900 and picking over the Y50?

same laptop chassis used in both of those links you mentioned. The fangbooks are just msi apache chassis, so they're not high quality or good for heating and sound.
if you can find the I7 y50 in your price bracket then i'd still stick to that, but even the I5 y50 would be preferable to the apaches.
