Turning on GPS

OK so it's Chinese and it may even be a rip-off of another make but not one I recognise but in any event, it was cheap and has a dual-SIM facility so it suits me. It says it's running Android 4.0.3 but I think it's closer to 2.3.something.

The Settings menu has separate entries for Location and Security instead of a combined menu, and it covers only wireless networks with no mention of GPS. Does anyone know a way to turn on the GPS facility?

you say there is nothing that mentions or suggests this device has GPS, so what makes you think it does?

Nothing more than an assumption that they al came with it these days. If it hasn't got it, that would explain a thing or two.

That's probably the case then but it's odd in that it seems to have everything else. Aoos that could use GPS report it as being turned off and invite me to turn it on but it simply goes to that Location sub-menu in Settings.

That device exists for one function. To part you from your money. Anything else does not have to be functional.

Well thanks for your help, folks. I'm not adversely affected by its lack as it seems to be able to identify my location from wi-fi networks within range even if I'm not connected to them. The problem was my personal annoyance that I couldn't fix the message. I'll learn to live with it. 😀
