Turtle beach x32s won't play game volume

my son got into Xbox gaming about a year ago and I purchased him some x32s for a chat headset. after a year of not being used he played a game, only to find that he couldn't hear game volume, I checked the plugs they're all in order and its paired however I can't see what's wrong
