hey,
so we have this older sony wega television which only has a DVI input besides the composites and rca inputs. Recently, we bought a sony bdp s3100 blu ray player which only has an hdmi output along with a coaxial digital output.

How can we go about getting sound from this thing? We also have this bose sound system which has a coax out and rca inputs. Both the tv and this receiver have digital optical inputs.

Solution
You have 2 options.

A: get a new TV

B: For the picture use a Hdmi to Dvi cable or a Hdmi to Dvi Converter....But Dvi only carries video and not audio

To get audio on the WEGA tv use a Coax/Digital to RCA converter... you can get them cheaply on Ebay

And for the Flat screens use a Coax to Digital converter.... http://www.ambery.com/dicostooptof.html
