Please help me choose the best out of these TV's (I'm open for other suggestions but it has to be at least 48", Smart TV, and under $500)
Sony KDL48R510C
Sharp LC-48LE653U
Philips 49PFL4609/F7

Thanks.

The way you have them listed is pretty much the order they should be in. The Sony is the best overall. Sharp Aquos sets can be just as good but seem to have a higher than normal amount of failures/issues comparatively. I wouldn't purchase the Philips at all. Hope that helps.

The thing is the Philips is the only TV with 120 Hz refresh rate, the other 2 are 60 Hz, That's why I'm confused.

the short answer is "it depends". What is your primary purpose?

If you watch mostly bluray and Netflix 60Hz is fine. If you watch mostly live sports 120Hz might be marginally better. If you play games 60Hz is better mostly because whatever processing the tv does to make up the frames at 120Hz will just add lag and other issues to games.

Some people (I'm one) don't like the faster refresh rates as it creates what is called "soap opera effect". Some people don't notice it but for people like me it is like nails on a chalk board. Regardless of brand, go to any big box store and look at any 60Hz vs 120 or 240Hz model and see if you even notice. If not then it is fine.

But regardless, Philips just isn't a high quality brand. These are all "budget" TVs but I would always take a Sony or Sharp over a Philips or RCA or other similar brand.

My top priority is watching soccer, and watching movies or TV series.

if soccer is your first priority then it would fall under live sports which would benefit (a little) from 120Hz. But I still wouldn't go with Philips. what is your actual budget? What is the minimum size screen you will consider?

perhaps this:

http://www.amazon.com/VIZIO-E48-C2-48-Inch-1080p-Smart/dp/B00SMBFP4K/ref=sr_1_1?s=tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1437439286&sr=1-1&keywords=HDTV&refinements=p_n_size_browse-bin%3A1232882011%2Cp_36%3A40000-75000%2Cp_n_feature_six_browse-bin%3A2807397011

or if a 43 inch screen is enough you can go quite a bit cheaper for the smaller model:

http://www.amazon.com/VIZIO-E48-C2-48-Inch-1080p-Smart/dp/B00SMBFP4K/ref=sr_1_1?s=tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1437439445&sr=1-1&keywords=HDTV&refinements=p_n_size_browse-bin%3A1232882011%2Cp_36%3A40000-75000%2Cp_n_feature_six_browse-bin%3A2807397011

either would be better than the Philips and would have 120Hz. Vizios have also had outstanding quality for the past few years and are some of the better "budget" options at all budget levels

My budget is up to $500 or maybe $550 tops, and min screen is size is 48", I never thought that Vizio is better than Philips, Well I recently came here from a different country and we do not have Vizio their and Philips is considered a good brand.

it's all relative I suppose. There are plenty of people that own Philips products that last a long long time and provide whatever the user ultimately wants. If you look at a Philips and like what they offer there is nothing to say you shouldn't buy it.

That being said, I would still take Vizio over Philips any day. You might get a Vizio and it blows up the day after the manufacturer's warranty runs out. There are no guarantees but you have better odds with the Vizio in my opinion and from what I have seen.

Since 120Hz doesn't matter to me I would go with the Sony really. But if you are a big soccer fan you may appreciate the 120Hz feature. Ultimately, in your price range, wanting 120Hz for sports, and wanting a 48 inch or bigger screen you have limited options. Vizio would be a good choice. Good luck
