hi guys. trying to connect my new(ish) LG tv to my old Teac ah500i. i have read through some of the threads on here and came across some advice that helped someine by way of using the head phone socket on the back. i have tried this but sound only comes out of 1 speaker. now my question is. my tv has a digital optical connection at the back and although my amp doesnt, my cd player does (matching teac model) will this work?

Solution
If your TV has a headphone jack on the back that should have worked.
Was the plug seated in the jack firmly?
A bad cable would cause the problem.
Connecting one RCA plug into the wrong jack on the Teac would cause it too.
Probably not. Have you made any effort to try switching the speakers and the R/L input on the amplifier to see where the fault is?

not yet. I have ordered some new cables aswell as an optical in the hope the problem would be with them. i will check that in rhe morning. thank you. the cables I have are 3 to 3 with a 3.5mm adapter. when I used the 3 to 3 without the 3.5 through aux in the amp I had no sound at all

Cable not plug in all the way. One side of the amp is blown, tried swapping L-R?

Optical connector is ONE-WAY. Standard procedure: hookup all sources (audio generators) to amp. Buy inexpensive Toslink-To-RCA converter, available @amazon.
