Some people here have recommended "tweakui" for various Windows
versions, including XP.

Having always been happy (due to ignorance perhaps) with several Windows
versions, I am wondering about the "worth" of using "tweakui".

Also where to get "tweakui". I haven't gone to downloads or CNet or
done a google search where I suspect it can be found.

So, what is the value of "tweakui?"
Thanks

May be not due to ignorance, but when you will discover the number of
settings which can be altered, you will realize that tweaking really is
the operative word here. I would suggest you try Xsetup at www.xteq.com
which I believe is the most elaborate and thorough tweaker. I would
further suggest you create restore points before attempting adjustments
and you first go with "innocuous" one. Read thoroughly the instructions
and make sure you understand what you are doing since some settings can
have consequences you did not expect.

But definitely, go ahead and enjoy!

The xteq tweaker opens most, if not all, of available registry changes
to tweak XP performance, user interface, etc. As a consequence, it is
also the most lethal for those who have little idea about what these
registry changes can do. It is a two-edged sword. Personal
experience... RTFM first.

Tweakui is tremendous. It makes much more of the behavior of various MS
operating systems "variable" and user-configurable (there is a separate
version of Tweakui for each OS, you can't use the Windows 98 version for
XP].

Tweakui is from Microsoft, although it's not officially supported. It's
part of the "Power Toys" package of add-ons. You can download it from
Microsoft at no cost. Here's a link:

actually, you CAN USE THE 95 VERSION FOR XP
It just adapts. The XP version may have a few more tweaks available

It sounds like bad advice to me...

With Barry's link, why not just download the correct version!

It's a Microsoft produced "Power Toy" that encapsulates some popular
registry hacks so you can make the changes safely without the risk of
fiddling inside your registry with regedit.
