[citation][nom]montezuma[/nom]The problem is that people talk a big game on the internet, but they do not back up their talk with their money. These big game corporations will not get the message until the majority of gamers start supporting the studios that have our(the gamer's) interest at heart. Sure, any company is in business to make a profit, but they need to do so while also supporting the people who purchase the product they produce.Activision has really been irritating me to the point that I have canceled my World of Warcraft account. As I have played World of Warcraft since its initial closed beta(2004), this was not an easy decision for me. I just refuse to continue to support a company that does not put their customers first. Sure, they have to consider their shareholders, but shareholders do not provide them with profits(or any measurable income). If only a few people practice what they preach, then nothing will ever happen to correct the issues in the gaming/electronics world. Stand up for what you believe in, or do not waste board space with your rantings.[/citation]

but shareholders provide them with equity needed to finance game development, I'm not sticking up for Activision, but if shareholders start selling their stocks, then it could seriously hurt the company as well.

Is there any good company to work for if you are a developer? I wonder if Valve is any good?

It seems like when the companies are small and somewhat independant, they are great to work for, but once someone like Activision or EA buys them out, the part is over.

I avoid ea games and activision titles. Remember all the support for BF 2142, and MOH Airborne? yep so do I. MW2 has shown activision's true color(money colored) I hope there isn't another CS type game because that is like TF2. FULL OF HACKS. Your next on my list valve.

[citation][nom]dapneym[/nom]I didn't buy MW2, and frankly refuse to ever buy it. Go voting with my wallet[/citation]

I didnt buy either and dont ever plan on it. All of my buddies who did waste their money on it were head over heels for it for about 2 weeks and then they regretted ever buying it and all I could say was "I told ya so".

You can't sell stock without someone else buying it. Sure it may drive down the market price of the stock but if they don't want to issue (and sell) new shares then it's no problem for them.

[citation][nom]buckcm[/nom]BC2 is really good. I have 54 hours after a little over 3 weeks. It's my first BF game and am quite impressed. However, don't be too quick to forget the noob tubes in BC2.[/citation]
The noob tube may be in BC2, but it only kills in a 3 foot radius compared to MW2's 15. It's mainly used for punching holes in buildings rather than an actual weapon, so it's not nearly as bad.

[citation][nom]razercultmember1[/nom]No lean, no dedicated servers, no mod tools, no lean, no console commands.[/citation]
I bought MW2 over hype than reviews. Silly me I took these things for granted because I was pretty pissed off to find out that there was no dedicated server support. WTF?! My last game I'll buy from them...

IW used to be one of my favorite companies but with MW2 they are edging dangerously close to making my blacklist. If the next COD installment isn't better they're out.

With this news, I would have to say the MW portion of CoD is dead. IW/Activision will no doubt try to publish a third MW but, when the individuals who create these products get fed up with the owners and leave or those that say on no longer have the desire or drive to make them good the product will fail. I don't doubt IW/Act will try to rebuild. However, with the studio in the state that it is in cannot reproduce the success of MW2 even if there were to reconcile their differences. It is too late, the mindsets of the developers have already been changed.

It will be sad to see a good franchise go down in flames. But, the flames will ultimately burn those that brought this upon the franchise...and that will be glorious.

[citation][nom]shortbus25[/nom]All I got to say Is BFBC2 is kicking some @$$ no one I game with is even playing MW2 anymore. Run and gun is done![/citation]

I am also having a good ole' time in BF:BC2. I've played all the Battlefield titles/expansions and only in BF1942 can I remember having this much fun. I hope BF3 brings back the vehicle combat as we knew it. BF:1942 is still one of the best FPS games ever IMHO.
As for more IW devs leaving... they have enough talent to find a new home I'm sure. Those sales numbers just cannot be ignored.

My sentiments exactly. I have loved all BF games but BC2 has brought back the initial love I had for 1943.

Oh and for the guy wanting a trial, they had a nice MP beta before the game was released.

Just like any FPS, getting the gameplay down and remembering a little about the maps makes a world of difference. When I started out I was beat down at every corner, now... I am giving the beatdowns. Great game the BC2.

On IW, they have talent for sure and I hope someone who will not hobble there skills picks them up.

[citation][nom]gregor[/nom]I quite like BC2 but I dont play anything but hardcore mode in BC2. I'm not exactly great at the game but when I shot some guy with about 10 rounds from close range with the saw and he still kills me with the repair tool that is just taking the piss, had to refrain from snapping my keyboard over my knee after that .50 cal from tank mg's having to hit them about a dozen times is also just plain stupid.[/citation]

Being able to take a few hits reduces the lucky kill factor and increases the skill required to play the game. I prefer the old Quake / Quake 2 style of gameplay, especially Q2ctf where you could take a couple of rockets to the face and still kill the other player if he wasn't as good as you. There were few lucky kills in that game and you had to actually be a better player than the other guy to beat him.

These new games I don't bother playing online because it's too easy to kill anybody and I don't find that as competitive as it used to be. But that's just me...

I couldn't disagree more. I can't stand unloading 5 or 6 rounds into someone and having them jumping around a corner. Give me 1-3 shot kills please.

Obviously IW can't prevent the hacking and thus, their decision to not allow dedicated servers F'd the rest of us over. I will not be interested in buying any sequels without this feature and I'm sure millions of others feel the same way.

It's just too funny and idiotic when IW says that they have improved the gameplay experience by not allowing dedicated servers when, in fact, a large percentage of the PC players hack, ruining it for the rest of the legit players.

BFBC2 is terrible in many aspects and is far far from perfect. Having your second choice jammed down your throat because your first choice was ruined by people like Zampella and West hardly makes # 2 a "great game". Come on people...no prone ? with one of the most important classes a sniper ? please. No toggle for crouch ? really people this is your idea of a great game ? Extremely repetative game play....poor controls...lousy weapons damage...BFBC2 is hardly great.
