I'm looking for surfing and installing Steam for a few crappy games. I need the 4GB for Pillars of Eternity (at least at launch).

the intel. bc of the ssd and intell processors are more efficient as well as less heat. Also the ssd doesnt heat up so less heat there as well.

more cores are not always better, intel processor is faster percore as well as it has hyperthreading so its a virtual 4 cores.

It would all come down to price. If they are the same, that's a really hard decision. The Intel has less cores and less speed, but much much better architecture, quality, and reliability. Looking at the requirements for Pillars of Eternity though, I don't think either processor is strong enough.

Intel is better, but considering the AMD one is clocked at 2.0 ghz and has a 2.4 ghz turbo core function and is quad core, while the Intel is 1.5 ghz dual core, the AMD will probably perform better. Intel does have much better architecture, but the gap between these two is just too great.

that is where youre wrong. the intell processor is faster per core. ghz means nothing in this case. amd option will have more heat because of the hdd.

Oops I completely forgot about graphics. I don't think either of the laptops you are choosing from are powerful enough. They don't even meet the minimum requirements of Pillars.

I actually prefer Intel to AMD, but according to benchmarks that AMD CPU performs better than that Intel CPU.

For our intellectual benefit mind if you could post sources indicating that the i3-4020Y is better than the A8-6410?
My source indicated that the integrated GPU is only 1% better than the AMD, but AMD seems to be 17% better.
...obviously the Intel CPU will stay cooler - lower clock speed and less TDP, and the 22nm lithography makes it more efficient, but at those lowered clock speeds (in comparison, because I know 22nm at 2.0Ghz can perform better than a 32nm at 2.4Ghz, but there's a much greater gap here) what makes the Intel CPU better?
