without the internet, this country (the UK) is a joke. the only non-drug induced enjoyment you can get in this country is through communicating with people from better-off countries like serbia, bulgaria, poland.

Use encryption while you are dling, Court people cannot prove that. They're finished. Unless you forget to encrypt your HDD just like man with CCTV last week.

Please, all they have to do is confiscate your HD and ask how you got all those movies, songs, or software.

What happened to privacy? You thieves destroyed it. There's so much piracy going on that the need to stop this outweighs privacy concerns. People can only tolerate so much crime and theft before they abandon the live and let live attitude. Thanks pirates, you so abused the anonymity of the internet that it forced authorities to act. Supporter's arguments fall on deaf ears when billions of dollars worth of stuff is being pirated every month, how long are they supposed to let it continue?

[citation][nom]randomizer[/nom]Your freedoms are being taken away because they can be. You don't stand up for them. The "abusers" have no more to do with it than you do. Blame the government for removing your freedoms, but blame yourself and the whole population for letting them.[/citation]

and this is the reason why chimps like George W bush and Sarah Palin are able to get into office. good luck U.S.A. you have no one but yourselves to blame.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA....oh...you are so cute thinking that you are "protected" from acts such as this. Have you really forced yourself to believe that the Constitution and Bill of Rights still protects you?

Your phone records are tracked every minute of the day. Your conversations can be listened in on at any time without a warrent. Your location can be tracked using your cellphone...even when turned off. Your internet traffic is monitored right now. Hell...even what you watch on TV is logged not to mention the mysterious little microphones that were found in most of the cable boxes out there.

You keep believing that things like the Patriot Act, Homeland Security and Carnivore were created for your best interest.

There is no "need" for unwarranted invasion of privacy. Even Sex offenders have rights.

And whats stopping the "Illegal" file sharers from stealing the internet from their neighbor who's too stupid to secure their wireless connection.

This is a war that cannot be won... an unstoppable force meeting and immovable object. The more they take the freedoms of people the closer the revolution will come.

Ummm.. this is happening in the UK. Secondarily, piracy on the internet is not the crime to end all crime. Acting like this is the most paramount issue of law only shows how little you actually know about the law and reality around you. Lets see... rape, murder, genocide... downloading GI Joe the Movie.. uhh yeah.

You'd have to be as dumb as a stick to add you name to that list. my as well phone up and tell them what you're downloading too.

The point is rape, murder genocide don't hurt big business, piracy does, and big business bribes oops I mean sponsors politicians. Movie studios and music publishers are not going out og business because of piracy, but they are furious they aren't getting more billions.

This law in the UK is horrendous, not because of pirates being cut off, but because it forces the ISP to monitor all your traffic and to keep records of it, guilty or innocent doesn't matter, they already keep a record of every call you make, every text you send, every e-mail you send

This isn't conspiracy hog wash, this is just simple fact, George Orwell's 1984 has happened already, you are completely monitored consistently, and the same happens to you in the USA.

They used your fear of terrorism to erode all your basic rights and to thank the for "protecting you" yeah right, i feel so secure knowing the goverment is scrutinising every little thing I do

Disagreeing with the idea of being disconnected from the internet because someone simply accused you of downloading, doesn't make you a pirate. Nor would anything like that hold up in court.

Unfortunately the USA is not the only country with disappearing freedoms.
