Unable to Download

I have an iPAQ2210 with Windows Mobile 2003. I have never been able to
download files, video clips or other content (other than pdf files) from
sites. The browser appears to follow the link but displays random text
(often with the filename in the first few hundred characters).

I thought this was simply a limitation of the Mobile IE, but reciently I
came across a site that claimed you could download and install .cab files
directly.

Is it possible to download web content? Is my PPC playing up? Is there a
solution or another browser that I might try?

You can try ftxpBrowser - freeware, or MultiIE or Netfront.

But there is also a download manager for PPC called VITO Mobile Downloader.

While an excellent program, it pretty much is a multi-window "enhancement" for pIE and can't render any page that pIE itself couldn't.

Besides, it's "download" function is broken! ;-)

I tried the trial version many moons ago, and I think it suffers from the same problem as ftx- as an add-on, it can't deal with any pages that pIE itself can't.

NF can probably handle the file downloads. I've used NF 3 for over a year. It deals with a lot that pIE can't.

PIE can download natively - just confirmed it on my 5550. BTW, I too trued
MultiIE many moons ago...and again recently - fantastic - it has a built in
function to change the registry so that web pages think its IE6 that you are
using. Unfortunately that means some sites dont automatically load up in
the smaller version (like Windowsmedia.com)

Should PocketIE be able to download?

PIE downloads all content to subdirectories of

\windows\temporary_internet_files

Any "downloadable" file that does not have an association will be
automatically downloaded there as well, and can be found and moved using
pfile explorer... tip, sorting by date makes them easy to find.
