I was tasked with doing data recovery from a Lenovo u300s, which theoretically shipped with a 32 GB SSD + 500 GB HDD combo drive. During normal use, this is what appeared to be available. However, upon opening up the laptop to extract the hard-drive from the water-damaged laptop, only a "bubblegum stick" style ssd was to be found. Is there some sort of onboard HDD used in this very space efficient ultrabooks that I am unaware of? Or does the "bubblegum" style ssd contain all of the drives? I am very confused, and have searched thoroughly for this purported hdd. To make matters worse, online documentation of the storage options for a Lenovo u300s are inconsistent, and in the case of the u300s's hardware replacement manual, unavailable. There appears to be no FRU instructions for removing a hard-drive from a u300s. Thanks for any help.

read this "It is not. The SSD in the Lenovo U300s (note: not the U300, which is different) is a non-standard SSD…similar to a bubble gum stick, like on the X1 Carbon, and it doesn’t even look like a standard SSD."
