understanding digital audio to soundbar with 2 external sources connected to TV via HDMI

I have a Bohm sound bar with optical audio in. There are no HDMI outputs.
If I buy a TV with 2 HDMI inputs and an optical audio out, I connect the Apple TV and Cable box to the TV, then connect the optical audio to the sound bar, will the sound automatically play on the sound bar when I switch input (cable vs Apple TV)?
Basically I’m hoping to make it simple - leave soundbar on, turn on tv, choose my input, and sound plays automatically based on the source?
