Unlimited IN calling?

I have 3 phones in a family share plan with a two-year
contract (a little over 1/2 way into the two years). The
contract came with, I think, 1000 min free mobile-to-mobile,
free weekends/nights and 400 minutes. Now they are
advertising unlimited IN Calling for free. Is this automatic,
or do I have to request a change of plans to get it? If the
latter, does it count as a plan change and push back the
contract another two years from the date of that change?

In my market (Atlanta) you'd need to sign a new agreement- either one year
or two to get the new feature. It would replace your existing agreement and
the term would start running when you signed it.

But be careful though-- they're good at playing take-away and you may not
get everything in the new agreement that you have in your old one like free
detail billing or any one-time bonus minutes.

You would have to request it and sign a new two-year contract, effective
today (or tomorrow or whenever you switch).

BUT BE CAREFUL! Unlimited is not necessarily better than your 1,000
shared M2M / IN Calling! With your current plan, the 1,000 shared M2M
minutes are valid for all of your lines calling within your plan or any
other Verizon Wireless customer. The new unlimited IN Calling feature
allows only the primary line to make unlimited calls to other VZW
customers; the other two lines only get unlimited calling within your
account.

In other words: With the new plan, your 2nd and 3rd lines would use the
400 peak minutes when calling other VZW customers during the day. Are
you sure you want to switch?

I have the shared 1,000 M2M minutes on my plan, and I ain't switching to
the so-called unlimited plan!

I don't remember the shared 1000 mtm minute plan. I had 1000 on the
primary and 250 on each secondary.

Am now on unlimited in network for all after upgrading my phones.

That's absolutely incorrect. I switched my four family-share plan phones to
unlimited IN calling--to any VZW customer.

I believe a month or two after VZW introduced "IN", they changed the
setup on family plan phones to what you describe. At the start, I
believe they were either charging an extra amount to give unlimited IN
to the secondary phones...but not any more.

I got it without contract. Upgraded from the older $35 plan to the newer
$39 plan.

Ed: I just renewed for another two years my previous plan. A Single Rate
West promo plan. Peak 6:00am-8:00 pm, 3200 night/weekends, 300 peak, 250
M2M, no long distance, no roaming within 12 western states, calls
originating within my home 12 state area to the rest of continental US no
additional charge (unless I've used up my minute allowance). Know what
you're losing when you think you are getting something better. Know your
real calling habits.

I dont understand why they have the 2nd and 3rd lines treated like
Ugly StepSisters or something. That really really bugs me LOL

Ahhh... I've been out of the loop for a bit.

To the original poster, I would add: If you currently have free long
distance to Canada, you'll lose that if you sign a new contract. So be
careful!

I switched about three months ago, and the National Access (as it's now
called) MOU remained in place on all four of our Family Share lines.
Unlimited IN calling is great!

They no longer "play those games." All four lines on my Family Share plan
are treated exactly the same.

VZN has my first line @ $0.35 per min but the 2nd+ lines at $0.45 min. I had
several compatible phones to add to the main contract (no expense to VZN)
but would only activate them with a two year contract extension on all
lines. Where we, at one time, burned air time the current phone is use just
under the allocated min. Almost every time I talk to anyone at VZN my
contract gets magically changed (always in VZN's favor) and I have to battle
for weeks to get the errors fixed.

When I added a corporate discount to my contract, I lost my
New-Every-Two, my per-minute overuse amount increased, and my contract
date was extended, even though Verizon Wireless guaranteed the discount
would not change my contract in any way. It took three phone calls just
to straighten out the contract end date, so I gave up on fixing the
per-minute charge. I didn't find out that I lost the New-Every-Two until
I went to upgrade my phone 18 months later, and ended up having to pay
for a new phone.

It was included on new accounts sometime this summer.I f you do not
have this on your account you would have to sign a new agreement that
would restart your contract date. Check to see if you would lose
anything such as an early N/W starting time before doing this.

People who had it as an additional $10 charge per account were
automatically changed and the charge dropped.
