What happens if your child locks your SIM card and when you try to unlock it and change the password it doesn't work. Now I can no longer call or text anyone and it looks like I need a new phone. Can anyone help before I have to result to this last option.

Your cellphone carrier should be able to give you the PUK.

It's also usually in the documentation you got with the phone, and in the My Account section of your carrier's website.
