Unsure about MacBook Air

Hi, it's about time I get a laptop and with much looking I finally decided on the MacBook Air 13inch. The only problem is I read that apple is releasing new versions of the MacBook Air's with retina display and some blogposts even suggested they might discontinue certain models. So, my question is should I keep waiting with my same old desktop or buy a laptop they might discontinue?
