Hey guys,
My brother in law came to me with an issue he recently encountered and I'm at a loss. He has a samsung laptop (specs will be below) which was having some issues with its optical drive apparently. Wouldn't read anything. So he read something that said if he pulled it out of the laptop, booted the computer without, then shut it off and put it back in, that might fix the problem.
So he did all of that, and now...the optical drive still does not work, and Windows 7 is now not working properly. It's stuck on the Windows Basic look, previously pinned programs on the start menu are gone, network connections are disabled. office programs are not working, and it says the Microsoft Diagnostic Service is not working.
What this seemed like to me was that it for some reason booted in Safe mode. When I looked at it some time ago, though, it didn't necessarily appear to be in safe mode, nor could I boot it out of safe mode (if it was in safe mode in the first place). Any ideas?
Samsung Series 7 15.6" Notebook model number NP700Z5A-S06US running on 64bit Windows 7 Home Premium
Intel Core i7-2675QM 2.2GHz Quad-Core
Memory: 8 GBDDR3 SDRAM
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 6490 with 512MB Dedicated
