Upgrade advice

Hello, i have a old compaq pressario f500 and would like to know what my upgrade options are. The cpu is an amd 64 x2 1.8 ghz there is 1gb of ram and a 60gb hdd. Would appreciate any feedback, I know im not gonna be able to make it anything special but would just like to get a bit more life out of it.

you can most likely stick some more ram into it, and perhaps get a better HDD. Both options require opening the laptop up, so if you are not planing to do so yourself, add extra cost for labor. Anything else would be too costly and if you wanted to get something besides ram+hdd I'd recommend getting a new laptop.

Ok thank you for advice. Do you think adding two 1gb sticks of ram to replace the two 512 sticks will make a noticable difference?

It will make a difference, windows will have to use the hdd page file less, but I can't tell you exactly how much better it will be (could be somewhere from 5-30% better)
