upgrade IPad 1

Trying to upgrade my IPad 1 . Very new to this so here's the dumb question...What is jailbreak? I have heard so many talk about this and don't know what you mean or even how to do it?

iPad 1 won't run the newer iOS, and if you managed to get it installed, it will run very slowly.

If you do a web search for the term jailbreak you will find tons of info. Basically it's a way to modify the iPad/Phone/whatever i device, to work with non-approved programs.
