Hi guys,

So my mum just asked me whether her old (2007) travel laptop could be brought back to life somehow. It's a VAIO-VGN-TX5XN (http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Sony-Vaio-VGN-TX5XN-Notebook.3747.0.html) still running on vista, 1 GB RAM, 100 GB HDD, Intel Centrino U1500. It is tremendously slow.
Would it be of any use putting an SSD in there for instance? Or any other upgrade that could still help it?

Thanks heaps for your input!

Not worth upgrading. It is an old single core CPU laptop which means it is obsolete. It will even struggle to surf the internet because a lot of websites have a lot of code running in the background. A slow single core CPU will struggle to try to keep up.
Honestly, installing a SSD into the old Sony will do very little. That system just needs to be retired and use the money you would spend for the SSD as the starter budget to purchase a new laptop.
