Upgrading iPhone 3G

Whenever you have got a new iPhone 3G the first thing is to upgrade this. It is same as the process of upgrading the first generation iPhone. It can be done in following ways:
1.Connect iPhone 3G to Your Computer
2.Agree to Software License
3.Create or Enter iTunes Account
4.Enter Personal Information
5.Decide About Mobile Me
6.Restore iPhone from Backup
7.Complete Restore Process

Mobile me is no longer in use apple has phased it out and is now using icloud. Also i beleive you taliing about registering the phone not upgrading it. Upgrading it would be to be install a highest iOS version onto it which can be done by plugging into itunes on your computer and hitting check for updates. This proccess doesnt involve entering personal information.

I feel I should have waited to read all the chatter before getting excited about upgrade, it's not as if I was desperate for any of the features! My 3G is slower, esp for opening SMS and this morning froze on the search screen and took an age to restart after a home button/off switch reset.
